St. Luke's to expand GE patient care capacity tool

St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, an 864-bed tertiary care teaching institution located in Houston, is expanding its use of GE Healthcare Performance Solutions’ Patient Care Capacity Management tool.

Combining advisory services, technology, governance strategies and GE operational methodologies, the PCCM tool will assist St. Luke’s in achieving utilization rates above the current hospital industry average, according to GE Healthcare, of Barrington, Ill.

GE will work with St. Luke’s to improve capacity management across the health system, manage patient length of stay and improve staff satisfaction. The organization will enlist PCCM hospitalwide, resulting in operational changes within the OR, inpatient care units, emergency, cath lab and radiology departments, according to the company. The project is expected to be completed in 2012.
