Reading Hospital names Scheirer CMIO
Jorge J. Scheirer, MD, has been named vice president and CMIO at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, in West Reading, Pa. In this newly created position, he will be responsible for supporting the development of clinical information systems for the 673-bed, nonprofit organization.
In recent years, Scheirer has supported Reading's hospital-wide implementation of computerized provider order entry and assisted in the design of the organization’s electronic medication reconciliation and discharge management applications.
Scheirer has served on the hospital’s physician advisory committee for informatics and the clinical systems committee. He currently serves on the patient care and transitional care committees as well as on the executive committee of the medical staff. He began his postgraduate medical career as a faculty member in the internal medicine residency program at Keesler Medical Center and was discharged with the rank of Major in 1996.
