UC Health names first CMIO

UC Health has appointed Anil Jain, MD, FACP, as senior vice president and CMIO. Jain, who currently serves as a senior executive and physician at the Cleveland Clinic, is a nationally recognized leader in the area of health IT, informatics and analytics. He will serve as UC Health’s first CMIO and will lead the transformation of the system’s IT infrastructure, according to the Cincinnati-based healthcare organization.

As the physician leader with oversight of UC Health’s information systems and technology division, Jain will be charged with establishing UC Health’s clinical strategy for the application of health IT—including UC Health's Epic EMR—as well as implementing and integrating new clinical information systems and ensuring their effective use, UC Health stated.

Jain also serves as co-director of biomedical research informatics at the Clinical Translational Science Collaborative of Case Western Reserve University and co-chair of Information Management for Better Health Greater Cleveland. In these roles, he has developed tools to support performance measurement and reporting across practices as well as tools to support clinical research in community practices.

Jain earned both his MD and BS in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University, and completed his residency training at the Cleveland Clinic. He also holds a faculty position at Case Western Reserve University’s Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
