General Dynamics gains HITRUST certification

General Dynamics IT’s hosting environment has received common security framework (CSF) certified status from the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST). The achievement follows a three-week audit of the processes and procedures of General Dynamics' health IT sector.

General Dynamics is the first healthcare hosting-service provider to become CSF Certified, according to HITRUST. Certification will facilitate partnerships with healthcare organizations because it ensures that General Dynamics has met the necessary information assurance requirements mandated by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability acts, General Dynamics stated.

HITRUST established the CSF, which integrates the requirements of government and third-party standards and regulations. The framework will be used by organizations that create, access, store or exchange personal health and financial information, according to Fairfax, Va.-based General Dynamics.
