Rochester RHIO accepts advance directives
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield employees can now upload their healthcare advance directives to Rochester RHIO’s (Regional Health Information Organization) patient portal, according to the Rochester, N.Y.-based organization.
Healthcare proxies and other advance directives can be stored electronically by a physician or hospital. Now, through the Rochester RHIO patient portal, consumers can help make sure their advance directives are available whenever and wherever needed, according to Rochester RHIO.
Patients also can log on to the site to provide consent for specific physicians to view their health information, and to request an audit of healthcare providers who have done so.
All 15 hospitals in the 10-county Rochester RHIO service area supply patient information to the Rochester RHIO health information exchange (HIE). Rochester RHIO has grown to serve more than 3,800 authorized healthcare providers and nearly 1,200 physicians.
More than 430,000 patients have consented to share their health information on the exchange, including one-third of Monroe County residents, the organization added.
