eHI releases 2011 HIE resource
The eHealth initiative has released the 2011 eHealth Initiative Toolkit, the third iteration of its online document designed to assist stakeholders with implementation and maintenance of health information exchanges (HIEs), according to the Washington, D.C.-based group.
Developed with ongoing input from national, state and local HIE sources, Phase I of the eHI Toolkit is now available, and addresses the steps for getting an HIE started. Toolkit topics include developing a roadmap, assessing readiness, establishing a governance structure, information sharing agreements, policies for patient data privacy and security policies. Links to sample roadmaps, agreements and governance documents are provided.
Phase II of the toolkit will be released in May, eHI stated.
