Maine REC designates athenahealth as a supported EHR vendor
HealthInfoNet, a Maine nonprofit that operates the statewide health information exchange (HIE) and Maine Regional Extension Center (MEREC), has selected athenahealth as a one of its supported EHR vendors.
The partnership will give primary healthcare providers across the state the option of using athenahealth's cloud-based EHR technology as they plan for and participate in the meaningful use program, according to the Watertown, Mass.-based cloud-based practice management, EHR and patient communication services provider.
HealthInfoNet, an independent, nonprofit organization based in Portland, operates MEREC as one of 62 Regional Extension Centers (RECs) nationwide that provide education and technical assistance to help healthcare providers select, implement and achieve meaningful use of certified EHR technology. HealthInfoNet’s statewide HIE enables state providers to exchange health information across organizations.
athenahealth also has extended the deadline for participation in its federal stimulus bonus payment guarantee program that assures its web-based services will help doctors across the nation, including those in Maine, to meet EHR certification requirements for achieving meaningful use and to obtain the 2011 program-year incentives offered by the HITECH Act.
