IHE-Europe Connectathon expands
The 11th annual IHE European Connectathon, to be held in Pisa, Italy, April 11-15, has expanded to a week-long program of activities.
The core activity remains the IHE-Europe Connectathon, an intensive connectivity marathon where for five days more than 300 IT engineers will test 117 systems for the interoperability of their applications used in health information systems.
National and regional e-health program managers, international standards groups and health IT opinion leaders from across Europe will participate in satellite meetings and parallel workshops, according to IHE-Europe.
A second testing event, called the Projectathon, will run in parallel in an adjacent space. Information systems from 13 European countries will be tested in a simulation of cross-border exchanges of patient summaries and electronic prescriptions in preparation for a large-scale pilot program later this year organized by Smart Open Services for European Patients (epSOS).
