Vermont HIE partners with Medicity
Vermont's statewide health information exchange operator has selected Medicity's suite of HIE tools to connect providers and expand the services available through the HIE.
The Vermont HIE (VHIE), operated by Vermont IT Leaders (VITL), currently connects eight hospitals to 29 physician practices with 116 practitioners in the state, so that physicians can receive lab results and other clinical reports electronically.
With Medicity, Montpelier-based VITL will expand services available to VHIE customers and will connect the remaining Vermont hospitals and physician practices to the VHIE and the state’s Blueprint for Health registry, which physicians use to analyze care. VITL also will extend HIE access to other Vermont healthcare organizations, including nursing homes and mental health agencies, according to the organization.
VITL will initially deploy the HIE to automate healthcare transactions such as lab and radiology orders and results and distribution of discharge summaries, the organization added.
