Intel Health Guide FDA 510(k) approved

Intel-GE Care Innovations, a joint venture of GE Healthcare’s Home Health Group and Intel's Digital Health Group, has received 510(k) market clearance from the FDA for the Intel Health Guide Express remote health management system.

The FDA-approved version of the Intel Health Guide builds on the legacy of the Intel Health Guide PHS6000, helping healthcare professionals and patients address the challenges of chronic care, according to Intel-GE Care Innovations, based in Sacramento, Calif.

Health Guide Express, slated to be available in the second quarter of 2011, runs on consumer off-the-shelf PCs and enables virtual care coordination through vital signs collection, interactive patient health sessions, videoconferencing capabilities and multimedia educational content. Health Guide allows healthcare organizations to use multiple systems that meet the needs of their patients, the company added.
