New Mexico Software launches PACS for Android

New Mexico Software has released its PACS teleradiology system for Google Android smartphones and the Samsung Galaxy Tablet. The application, which can be downloaded free on the Android Marketplace, requires and Android operating system higher than 2.2.

Features of the PACS include the ability to check total number of cases or orders and to search, view, edit and send images. Users also can preview and zoom CT, echo/ECG, MRI, ultrasound or x-ray images, along with PDF diagnostic reports.

Key additional features support the roles and functions of management, client services, technicians, external customers, medical management and radiologists, according to New Mexico Software, based in Albuquerque, N.M.

FDA regulations prohibit the images to be used for diagnostics, but radiologists can use them for case review and access to patient reports, the company stated.
