ONC names 2 more EHR certification bodies

TheOffice of the National Coordinator of Health IT (ONC) has designated two more ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies (ONC-ATCBs) for EHRs: ICSA Labs, authorized to test and certify complete EHR and EHR modules; and SLI Global Solutions, authorized to test and certify complete EHR and EHR modules.

    The Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based ICSA and the Denver-based SLI join the Certification Commission for Health IT (CCHIT), Drummond Group and InfoGard Laboratories, which were recognized as ONC-ATCBs earlier this year.

    Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act  of 2009 (ARRA), healthcare providers must use certified EHR Modules or Complete EHR systems to meet the criteria for meaningful use and qualify for incentive payments. More than 160 EHR products have been certified, according to the ONC's Certified Health IT Product List (CHIPL).
