EU approves two Edwards patient monitoring platforms

The European Union has granted Edwards Lifesciences a CE mark for its VolumeView sensor-catheter set, a device that monitors a patient’s hemodynamics, and its EV1000 clinical monitoring platform that displays patient's physiological status.

The EV1000 platform integrates sensors and catheters into a single system and is equipped with a touch-screen monitor that displays color-coded clinical targets and alerts. Edwards’ FloTrac sensor, PediaSat and PreSep oximetry cathers, the TruWave pressure transducer, along with the VolumeView, are compatible with the EV1000 platform.

The VolumeView system, when used in combination with the EV1000 platform, can output volumetric parameters including fluid volume in the lungs and global end-diastolic volume, Irvine, Calif.-based Edwards said.
