GE patient monitor app receives FDA clearance
The FDA has cleared GE Healthcare's patient monitoring application Carescape Monitor B650.
The Carescape Monitor B650 assists data integration and connectivity by linking to the GE Carescape portfolio of monitoring products--including bedside, central station and transport monitors--as well as existing GE monitors and peripheral third-party devices.

According to GE, the enterprise-wide patient monitoring platform assists clinical decision-making via:
- Customized patient profiles within the monitor or plug in a new clinical measurement module;
- A touch screen interface and a barcode reader. From the system, caregivers can view data and alarms from remote monitors at bedside; and
- The monitor can run via a wireless local area network, can be battery operated and transmits data to the central station.
