Phillips and Electron install first Russian-built CT
Phillips Royal Electronics and Electron have developed and installed the first Russian-produced CT scanner at the Hospital of War Veterans in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The 16-slice scanner marks an improvement over the hospital's current 2-slice CT system, according to the head of the Hospital of War Veterans, Evgeny Ageenko, MD. The CT is the first scanner with a Russian-language interface and was constructed with 15 percent of the high-tech components produced in Russia.
Phillips, based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and medical equipment manufacturer Electron, based in St. Petersburg, said they will continue to partner to produce Russian-made CT scanners as well as develop ultrasound and MRI systems.
