Philips upgrades SpeechExec for BlackBerry

Royal Philips Electronics has upgraded its dictation service SpeechExec for BlackBerry, adding the ability to transmit data and include data in the recording files.

SpeechExec 2.0 enables users to send files via e-mail, FTP/S and HTTP/S. By using the device’s wireless LAN connection, SpeechExec 2.0 uses can attach photos to recordings, Philips stated. Text documents can be returned to the author’s BlackBerry by email after transcription.

According to the company, additional software updates include:
  • Customizable function keys for dictation purposes;
  • Audio file transmission managed by the SpeechExec Mobile server; and
  • A graphical user interface (GUI) design for the BlackBerry Storm.
