U.K. hospital to deploy Siemens' MRI

Siemens Healthcare will install its Magnetom Avanto 1.5T MRI as an upgrade to the imaging department of Manchester, England-based Royal Oldham Hospital, part of Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The new system will increase the range of clinical applications and enable breast imaging, vascular imaging and potentially orthopedic and neurological exams, stated Malvern, Pa.-based Siemens. The MRI will allow the hospital to scan 4,500 patients a year.

Additionally, the hospital has installed an Acuson S2000 ultrasound system from Siemens for musculoskeletal exams, the company said.
