ICA to offer HIE services to Kansas City region

eHealthAlign, a nonprofit health information exchange (HIE) organization, has selected Informatics Corporation of America (ICA) as a strategic partner to furnish the technology and infrastructure for a multi-state regional HIE to serve the greater Kansas City area.

The area for the regional HIE will include 13 counties in Kansas and 12 in Missouri, 36 hospitals, 3,000 primary care physicians and 35 safety net clinics, the Nashville, Tenn.-based ICA stated.

ICA will implement its CareAlign technology in a phased approach to HIE participants with the first phase addressing EMR, clinical messaging, PHRs, e-prescribing and physician referrals. Subsequent phases will address patient registries, medical reconciliation and reporting, the company stated.
