Pennsylvania health network taps QuadraMed coding system
Lehigh Valley Health Network has selected QuadraMed’s Quantim computer-assisted coding (CAC) system to help prepare for the transition to ICD-10.
The Allentown, Pa.-based health network, which includes three hospitals and numerous physician practices in eastern Pennsylvania, is the first U.S. health system to purchase the newest addition to QuadraMed’s Quantim Health Information Management (HIM) platform, according to the Reston, Va.-based company.
Quantim CAC combines the Quantim Encoder with a natural language-processing engine that reads and interprets electronic clinical documentation provided by healthcare practitioners. The system generates suggested medical codes for coders to review and validate, accelerating code submission to billing systems. Quantim CAC integrates with Quantim coding, compliance, abstracting, electronic document management, clinical document and record management modules.
QuadraMed also launched its next-generation, ICD-10-compliant Quantim HIM system at the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Convention & Exhibit in Orlando, Fla., this week. New Quantim features include a configurable user interface and search tools, the company said.
The compliance date for implementation of ICD-10 is Oct. 1, 2013.
