ACR introduces online CT accreditation program
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has introduced an online accreditation program, the ACRedit application system, which offers CT accreditation in about 63 days, half the previous time required for accreditation.
Providers who bill for PET, MRI, CT and nuclear medicine under part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule must be accredited in order to receive technical component reimbursement from Medicare, and practices are urged to apply early to meet the Jan. 1, 2012, deadline and avoid a late rush of providers seeking accreditation, according to ACR.
The ACR’s application system has helped providers of other services mandated for accreditation by Medicare to complete the process in an average time of 63 days from when ACR receives test images until facilities receive their final report. The program will now allow facilities offering CT to complete the application process entirely online, according to the Reston, Va.-based ACR.
The ACR program does not require a fee to access the application and a support team is available to guide providers through all stages of the accreditation process.
