Benefitfocus acquires Benefit Informatics

Healthcare benefits software company Benefitfocus has acquired healthcare and benefits information management company Benefit Informatics for an undisclosed amount to bring claims data analytics, data warehousing, trending, forecasting and financial analysis to its platform.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Benefitfocus, the Tulsa, Okla.-based Benefit Informatics will continue to operate under the direction of its current management team, according to Charleston, S.C.-based Benefitfocus.

Using a data warehouse to store claims, pharma and lab data, Benefit Informatics' technology provides reports that aggregate trends about health plan usage for CFOs, benefit administrators, human resource managers and their consultants, according to Benefitfocus. Through a software-as-a-service model, Benefitfocus customers can take advantage of data analytics, reporting and modeling capabilities to create custom reports, build their own queries and compare their data to industry standards, the company added.
