CCHIT applies for ONC certification, accreditation status

The Certification Commission for Health IT (CCHIT) submitted an application to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) to become an authorized testing and certification body (ONC-ATCB) last week.

The Chicago-based commission expressed confidence about being approved as an ONC-ATCB because “of our years of experience in this field and our readiness to meet the required accreditation standards.”

“We await further guidance from ONC and the completion of the final test procedures and tools by the National Institute of Standards and Technology,” said Alisa Ray, executive director of CCHIT.
