McMillan named HIMSS privacy and security chair

Mac McMillan has been selected as chair of the Health Information Management Systems Society’s (HIMSS) Privacy and Security Steering Committee.

As steering committee chair, McMillan will work with HIMSS members to provide oversight and strategic direction for HIMSS projects, policies and other matters relating to privacy and security issues associated with the exchange and storage of electronic health information, according to the Austin-based CynergisTek.

In addition to being co-founder and CEO of CynergisTek, McMillan has been involved with various HIMSS committees since 2007--first as the chairperson of the HIMSS Information Systems Security Work Group and most recently as an active member of the Privacy and Security Committee.
