IHIT solicits HIE ideas for $10.3M grant
The board of directors of Indiana Health IT (IHIT) is soliciting project ideas for the $10.3 million federal grant the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) received in March.
The State of Indiana was awarded the funding to further expand the use of health information exchange (HIE) under the State HIE Cooperative Agreement Program.
The submitted project ideas should fit within the pillars as defined below:
The project submission date is July 9. Submissions can be mailed or emailed to Andrew VanZee, statewide health IT director at the Indianapolis-based FSSA. Parties interested in submitting ideas for consideration should complete the project template posted online.

- Connecting data sources - Development of interfaces or access infrastructure to allow providers to link to existing health information organizations.
- Interoperability - Development of standards or infrastructure to allow health information to flow freely between service providers.
- Improved outcomes - Timely use of HIE to improve clinical decisions both from the provider, payor and patient standpoint.
- Initiatives - Use of HIE to meet other federal/state initiatives.
