Biotronik puts MR-compatible pacing systems on EU market

Biotronik has released its ProMRI pacing systems—Evia pacemaker and Safio pacing leads—to the European market.

According to the Berlin-based company, the technology is included in its bradycardia system portfolio and is compatible with MRI scans for patients who are implanted with pacemakers and who have certain conditions.

Additionally, the systems use closed loop stimulation, an algorithm that adapts pacing rate during periods of acute mental stress. And Evia is equipped with Vp suppression and IRSplus, which alleviate unnecessary ventricular pacing to prevent the risk of atrial fibrillation and heart failure, said Biotronik.
