Medtronic's remote monitoring system gets celluar access

Medtronic has launched its M-Link cellular accessory, which can be used in conjunction with its CareLink remote monitoring network to allow cardiac device patients to send information stored within their implanted devices to physicians using cellular signals rather than a telephone landline.

M-Link connects to CareLink patient monitors and can transmit data from a patient’s implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) or cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillator (CRT-D) to the patient’s hospital or clinic through a secure network.
