Mercy Health System taps NextGen for EHR/HIE
NextGen Healthcare Information Systems has signed a contract with Mercy Health System, a Catholic healthcare system serving the Delaware Valley, to deploy NextGen EHR and NextGen Health Information Exchange (HIE).
MHS, based in Conshohocken, Pa., consists of 70 providers and 31 locations. The healthcare system began implementing NextGen EHR in 2009 at several pilot physician sites with the goal of full implementation across MHS by the end of 2010, according to NextGen, of Horsham, Pa., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems.
NextGen said its HIE will be implemented starting in the third quarter of 2010. In addition, MHS plans to engage in a beta project to build an interface between NextGen EHR and Keystone Mercy Health Plan, so providers can access payer data through an integrated payer/provider record.
