HIMSS: Agfa to offer clinical imaging solutions

Agfa HealthCare (Booth #1633) will offer the healthcare community systems for clinical consolidation, results distribution and improved communication between care providers at the HIMSS10 conference in Atlanta in early March.

Agfa's Impax Data Center provides an enterprise imaging storage infrastructure, and its Impax Data Center Viewer enables viewing for a longitudinal imaging patient record in the continuity of care, the company said.

The Impax Data Center can bring imaging into the EMR or EHR, and provides multimedia storage for DICOM 3.0 medical images and diagnostic results, including DICOM-encapsulated images, reports, waveforms and PDFs for hospital groups, regional healthcare organizations and medical archives.

The Impax Data Center Viewer, powered by Xero, has a viewer that embeds image content into the EHR and renders it accessible by those who need it, requiring an Internet browser and a network connection.

Agfa said it is featuring Impax Exchange as a work in progress that could provide the transfer and localization of patient studies among hospitals and other healthcare organizations. With Impax Exchange, providers would no longer need to worry about lost or damaged CDs and DVDs.

At HIMSS 2010, Agfa also will showcase its Web-based enterprise ordering, scheduling and planning solution, Impax Scheduling, which includes an electronic whiteboard to manage appointments and multiple resources.

Impax Scheduling also can help hospitals that depend on referring physicians for inpatient volume and ancillary services, such as radiology/diagnostic imaging, improve communication between the referring physician and the hospital network by allowing order placement and appointment scheduling into the referring physician's offices.
