Hawaiian HIE partners with Wellogic
The newly formed Kamuela, Hawaii-based North Hawaii Health Information Exchange (NHHIE) has partnered with health IT company Wellogic to realize patient safety, cost management and consumer satisfaction from community-wide care coordination enabled by HIE.
Over 90 percent of independent physicians in Kamuela regularly use an EHR, according to Wellogic, of Cambridge, Mass. The NHHIE will utilize Wellogic's provider and consumer portals and the Wellogic HIE to manage transitions in care and tackle problems caused by gaps by adopting accountable care and patient centered medical home management models, Wellogic stated.
The NHHIE involves the North Hawaii Community Hospital, the Hawaii Independent Physicians Association, independent physicians and their staff, and integrates the region's payors, laboratories, imaging centers, pharmacies and other trading partners, Wellogic said.
