Bioheart, distributors partner to vend home heart failure monitoring system
Bioheart has entered a distribution agreement with Restoration Medical, McRay Medical, Alamo Scientific and Morey Medical to initiate its home heart failure monitoring system, the BG 3370 Home Monitoring Service, to chronically ill patients throughout the U.S.
According to Sunrise, Fla.-based Bioheart, the BH 3370 Home Heart Failure Monitoring System collects patient vital signs and submits them to a database via the monitoring system at a patient’s home. Data collection is taken via device tools such as weight scales and blood pressure cuffs, monitored by physicians and medical professionals for abnormal readings and sent back through a secured Internet site.
Currently, in the U.S., heart failure causes the admittance of one million patients to hospitals each year and multiplies the risk of patient hospitalizations within six months of discharge by 50 percent.
According to Bioheart, these systems are reimbursed by Medicare to home health companies through the Care Plan Oversight, which allows physicians to bill Medicare for the overseeing home care and hospital patients.
Under the agreement, McRay Medical will distribute the home systems in Northern California; Alamo will distribute in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas; Morey in Oklahoma and parts of Kansas; and Restoration Medical to the rest of the country.
