Unity Health System awarded $800,000 in federal grants

Unity Health System has been awarded $800,000 in federal grants to expand its EMR system and to support computer physician order entry initiatives already in place.

The grant is part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, sponsored by Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, D-N.Y., and co-sponsored by Rep. Christopher Lee, D-N.Y. The funds will add to an already ongoing five-year, $15 million project to fully implement an EMR system by early 2010 across the Rochester, N.Y.-based system’s 321-bed Unity Hospital, 12 primary care offices and six OB/Gyn offices.
