U.K. hospital installs Siemens Avanto MRI

The Royal Victoria Infirmary, part of Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has installed a Magnetom Avanto 1.5 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare.

The Avanto MRI system is used with syngo BreVis diagnostic reporting and BreVis Biopsy interventional software, Siemens said. According to the company, syngo BreVis workplace can display ultrasound, x-ray, as well as MRI images on a single screen to assist diagnosis. The syngo BreVis Biopsy software calculates the coordinates of breast tissue to be removed, helping to make the procedure quicker and more accurate, the firm said.

The Royal Victoria Infirmary also plans to install another MRI system, a Siemens' Magnetom Verio 3T, in its neuroradiology department for brain and spine imaging, according to the developer.
