Siemens nets $135M contract with UPenn

The University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia has awarded a $135 million contract for integrated service management and imaging systems to Siemens Healthcare.

Imaging systems involved include MRI units, CT scanners and ultrasound systems, Siemens said. Diagnostic system service includes laboratory systems, surveillance monitors and anesthesia units, according to the company. Many diagnostic systems are monitored via a data link for remote services, making it possible to prevent or repair faults without having to dispatch a service engineer to the installation site, the firm said.

Siemens will also provide workflow consulting services to the clinic and offer training for service engineers and operating personnel.

The new contract represents an extension of an eight-year service agreement.
