N.Y. hospital taps McKesson for HIS
Nyack Hospital in Rockland County, N.Y., is implementing McKesson's Paragon community hospital information system (HIS), which will enable the use of EHRs and financial management systems throughout its 375-bed facility.
David H. Freed, DHA, president and CEO at Nyack, said that the HIS will improve the hospital's charting and billing process by providing its care team with immediate anytime, anywhere access to up-to-date patient information. Point-of-care applications such as barcode medication scanning and patient care documentation are designed to help ensure that the care team will be equipped to provide the proper care.
Administrators spital expect that the use of EHRs will serve as a recruitment tool for physicians, nurses and other clinicians in a highly competitive market that includes 32 hospitals within a 20-mile radius, according to McKesson.
A member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, Nyack Hospital is an acute-care medical and surgical hospital, which includes more than 650 physicians.
