CMO demand jumped during the COVID-19 pandemic

Chief medical officer is the hottest job title in the healthcare field over the past few years, according to recent data that revealed a jump in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 2,900 jobs for CMOs were posted in 2022, according to Yahoo, citing data from Zip Recruiter. That’s compared to just 767 postings for the job title in 2019, and a record of 5,000 postings last year.

Interestingly, the need for CMOs spread across industries, with the healthcare industry seeing an obvious uptick in demand, but other industries as well. Non-healthcare companies typically required a clinician for operational and employee health management needs, Yahoo reported.

Healthcare is a huge cost for companies, and managing employees’ health has created a new dynamic across industries that will stretch beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Helping employees navigate the healthcare space can be beneficial for both employees and companies.
