Cleveland Clinic to collab in value-based care center in China
Cleveland Clinic has teamed with Luye Medical Group in a strategic collaboration to bring value-based and patient-centered healthcare to Shanghai New Hong Qiao International Medicine Center.
The concept if the first entry into China for Cleveland Clinic.
Luye Medical, the healthcare services arm of Luye Life Sciences Group, is the inaugural member of Cleveland Clinic Connected international program, which connects patients around the world with Cleveland Clinic’s technology and best practices to improve patient care delivery.
“With strong government support, Shanghai New Hong Qiao International Medical Center is positioned to be the pilot zone for national and Shanghai medical reform,” Jie Yang, chairman of Shanghai New Hong Qiao International Medical Center Construction Development Co., said in a statement.
Shanghai patients will also be able to access health education materials from Cleveland Clinic experts and connect with specialists via technology “without the time and expense” of traveling for second opinions.
The collaboration aligns with the goals of China’s “Healthy China 2030” public health initiative. Shanghai, with its own "Healthy Shanghai 2030" blueprint, will establish a cluster of clinical specialty groups to become one of the blueprint's medical centers in Asia by 2020 and a science technology innovation center with global influence by 2030, according to the announcement.
“Disease and illness know no boundaries or borders, through innovative approaches and teamwork we can work together to impact lives in the healthiest way possible,” Tom Mihaljevic, MD, CEO and president of Cleveland Clinic, said in a statement. “Collaboration, like the one we are announcing today, aligns with our mission to improve the lives of as many patients as possible in order to advance the ‘Healthy China 2030’ goal.”
Over time, the two medical groups plan to introduce clinical specialties, such as cardiology, urology and oncology.
