Investigators find bugs in OpenEMR that put 100M EMRs at risk
Project Insecurity, a cybersecurity consulting organization, found that OpenEMR left 100 million electronic medical records at risk for hacking, according to a recent BBC report.
Those investigating OpenEMR found nearly 30 bugs, which could give attackers access to medical records and personal information. Those vulnerable include 30 million people in the United States.
"The OpenEMR community takes security seriously and considered this vulnerability report high priority since one of the reported vulnerabilities did not require authentication,” Brady Miller, OpenEMR’s project administrator, said.
OpenEMR has developed and released patches to address the bugs.
