Boston Children's tops list of best pediatric hospitals in the U.S.
U.S. News & World Report recently released its list of the top children’s hospitals for 2016-2017. Based on clinical data and pediatric specialists, the rankings examined 106 hospitals in 10 major specialties.
Boston Children’s Hospital earned the top spot on the list—and it wasn’t even close. The 395-bed facility was ranked No. 1 in eight of the 10 categories.
Based on data from 183 pediatric centers and responses from 11,000 surveyed pediatric specialists and subspecialists, the report listed 11 hospitals on its Honor Roll, meaning a facility performed at the highest level in three or more specialties:
- Boston Children's Hospital
- Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
- Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
- Texas Children's Hospital, Houston
- Seattle Children's Hospital
- Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
- Children's Hospital Los Angeles
- Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC
- Children's Hospital Colorado, Aurora
- Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, Palo Alto, CA
- Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio
"Families with sick children face so many uphill battles," said Avery Comarow, U.S. News health rankings editor. "By recognizing hospitals that offer the best pediatric care, we hope we can offer families important help when they are going through an exceptionally overwhelming time."
