DoD looks to partner with Silicon Valley
The Department of Defense will establish its own digital service team to help build partnerships with the private sector on IT and data. According to a speech given by Defense Secretary Ash Carter in Silicon Valley, the team already has begun work on transferring EHRs to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The DoD also announced plans to open a unit in Silicon Valley to build new partnerships with the private sector.
'[W]e're looking at new ways to attract talent through new private-sector exchange programs ... so that together, we can create cyber capabilities that not only help DOD, but can also spin off into the wider U.S. marketplace," Carter said.
