Some patients with certain autoimmune diseases are finding it difficult to obtain their prescriptions for methotrexate as a result of changing abortion care laws.

The Biden administration has seemingly found a way to federally protect abortion care services in all states in some circumstances.

This is a Class I recall, which means using the devices could cause "serious adverse health consequences or death."

The application comes just weeks after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed the right to abortion care in the U.S. for nearly 50 years.

The chief operating officer of the now defunct blood-testing company was found guilty of 12 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy. 

While the president does not have the authority to overturn a Supreme Court decision, the move could improve pathways to access for reproductive care.

The CMS proposal was met with immediate criticism from the American Medical Association. 

"It is more important than ever to ensure access to contraceptive coverage with no out-of-pocket costs under the Affordable Care Act," federal health leaders wrote in a letter to private insurers.
