Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Spectrum Health Hospital Group has named Darryl Elmouchi, MD, MBA, chief medical officer, effective Oct. 10.
Elmouchi, who has worked at Spectrum since 2010, was previously the cardiovascular division chief.
As CMO, Elmouchi will assist in developing the hospital group’s strategic plan, which includes clinical service line development, care coordination and quality efforts in all 12 of Spectrum’s hospitals and care sites, the hospital group said in a statement.
“Dr. Elmouchi has played a vital role in Spectrum Health’s cardiovascular program for years and demonstrated his expertise as an excellent physician as well as an effective leader,” said Tina Freese-Decker, president of Spectrum Health Hospital Group, in a statement. “We value his ability to build relationships, understand complex issues and implement key decisions.”
In addition to taking on the new role, Elmouchi will continue teaching medicine at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine.
Prior to Spectrum, Elmouchi was a cardiac electrophysiologist at West Michigan Heart and held clinical positions at the University of Michigan Health System and the University of California, San Francisco.
