Officer manager sentenced for taking part in $50 million fraud scheme

The office manager of Memorial Home Health in New Orleans has been sentenced this week for taking part in the company’s $50 million fraud scheme.

Joe Ann Murthil, of New Orleans, was sentenced to serve 48 months in jail and pay more than $14 million in restitution for her role in the scheme, which involved submitting fraudulent claims to Medicare from 2007 to 2014.

The FBI, Office of Inspector General, and Louisiana Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit all investigated the case.
