The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) has released data showing what measures hospitals reported to public health agencies as part of the Medicare EHR Incentive Program.
The measures reported by the more than 4,000 hospitals in 2015 were:
- Immunization registry: 93 percent reported, 6 percent claimed exclusion, 1 percent didn’t report.
- Reportable lab results: 88 percent reported, 7 percent claimed exclusion, 5 percent didn’t report.
- Syndromic surveillance: 76 percent reported, 20 percent claimed exclusion, 4 percent didn’t report.
- Specialized registry: 4 percent reported, 25 percent claimed exclusion, 71 percent didn’t report.
There were differences based on a hospital’s stage of meaningful use. Those in Stage 2 were more active in reporting for all categories. For example, for the 472 hospitals in Stage 1 or modified Stage 2, 78 percent reported data on immunization registries, lower than 95 percent of hospitals reporting that data in Stage 2.
