Revenue, operating income increase for athenahealth in 3rd quarter

For the third quarter of fiscal 2015, athenahealth’s revenue increased 24 percent to $236.1 million compared with the same quarter in 2014, while its non-GAAP adjusted operating income increased from $18.5 million to $25.4 million during the same time period.

The company, which provides cloud-based services and mobile applications for medical groups and health systems, added a record 4,784 providers to its network during the three months that ended on Sept. 30, 2015.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, athenahealth’s revenue increased 24 percent and its revenue from athenahealth-branded services increased 25 percent.

For fiscal year 2015, athenahealth expects revenue to be at or above the mid-point of the $905 million to $925 million guidance range the company provided to the public on Feb. 6. Meanwhile, it anticipates non-GAAP adjusted gross margin to be close to the high end of the 62.5 percent to 63.5 percent guidance range, non-GAAP adjusted operating income to be above the high end of the $75 million to $85 million guidance range and non-GAAP adjusted net income per diluted share to be above the high end of the $1.10 to $1.20 guidance range.

More than 72,000 healthcare providers use athenahealth’s Epocrates and other mobile apps and cloud-based services for electronic health records, revenue cycle management, medical billing, patient engagement, care coordination and population health management.
