Hologic’s revenues, earnings increase in 3rd quarter

For the third fiscal quarter, Hologic’s revenue increased 12.2 percent on a constant currency basis and its earnings per share increased 150 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

Hologic’s shares increased 11 percent in the hours following the July 29 announcement and were up 60 percent since last July.

Revenues increased in Hologic’s three largest business segments (diagnostics, breast health and gynecology surgical) but decreased in its skeletal health division. Overall, the third quarter revenue was $693.9 million, while earnings per share were $0.10.

Several of Hologic’s products are U.S. market share leaders in their categories, including the Genius 3D mammography system, Selenia digital mammography system, ThinPrep pap test, Aptima Combo 2 assay, Procleix assay and NovaSure endometrial ablation procedure.

For fiscal year 2015, Hologic expects revenues to reach nearly $2.7 billion.
